Last Wednesday, May 28, the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre conducted a survey using methodology from ClimateWatch. The survey was a fantastic experience for all involved and made extra special by the fact that it was matching a survey across the world.
This survey marked the launch of ‘Oceans Connected‘ an exciting project that connects marine citizen science from around the world.
SCMDC has twinned, much like sister cities, with the Berwickshire & North Northumberland Coast European Marine Site and Big Sea Survey in the UK. We conducted simultaneous surveys and are sharing results across social media.
Our volunteers had a fantastic day exploring the rock pools, we were lucky enough to see dolphins go by as we surveyed and to find a beautiful little feather star.
If you would like to take part in the next survey, email us on: education@sapphirecoastdiscovery.com.au
The survey in the UK found some fabulous species of sea stars, including brittle stars and also a stalked jellyfish.
