Volunteers
The Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre has relied on volunteers since its inception in the late 1990’s.
All Board members are voluntary, as are our Volunteer Guides and a number of committed community members who assist in a variety of ways.
Our Volunteer Guides ensure that visitors to the Marine Discovery Centre gain as much as they can from the experience.
Volunteers meet and greet guests, guide them through the Centre and interpret our displays.
Our guides are learning with us all the time and are all valuable contributors to our aims and objectives
Volunteers are vital to our work and contribute in a variety of ways including:
Guiding and customer service
Outdoor activities including Snorkelling & Rocky Shore Rambles
Event management eg: Whale Festival, Science Week & Annual Marine Science Forum
Aquarium management and maintenance
Developing & Installing displays
Assisting on school education programs
WORK EXPERIENCE & STUDENT PLACEMENT
Work experience and student placement programs incorporating a variety of tasks and skill sets
are also on offer during the year.
