Twofold Bay

Eden

Eden is the place to sit above Twofold Bay when humpbacks are moving, then walk a working harbour rather than a resort strip. Stay here if whales, the Killer Whale Museum story, and a short run into Beowa matter more than a lagoon swim at the door.

Best for whale windows, harbour walks, and a rugged overnight base.

Lagoon town

Merimbula

Choose Merimbula when you want a gentle arrival, a swim option in most seasons, and a central point for Pambula, Tathra and Eden day trips. Choose Eden instead if the whale window is the whole reason you came.

Best for first arrivals, families who want a beach-and-town mix, and fly-in weekends.

Pambula

Use Pambula when you want a beach morning without Merimbula’s holiday-town bustle, or as a stepping stone toward the Pambula–Haycock side of Beowa National Park.

Best for a slower beach day and northern Beowa access.

Tathra

Tathra is the northward day trip when you already have a Merimbula or Bega Valley base and want a different headland, not another full relocation.

Best as a day trip from Merimbula rather than a second long-stay base.

Bermagui suits travellers who already like working harbours and are happy to sit with a fish-and-chip sunset rather than chase every lookout between here and Eden.

Best for harbour wandering, fishing-town pace, and a northern-coast overnight.

Boydtown

Boydtown is worth a stop for bay quiet and the historic settlement story, then you should keep moving into Beowa or back to Eden. It is not a substitute for a full Eden whale day.

Best as a short add-on to an Eden or Beowa day.
