• Shorebird Workshop coming soon!

    by  • October 30, 2012 • Announcements

SCMDC will soon join forces with NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service and BirdLife Australia to conduct two days of workshops where you can learn all you ever wanted to know about shorebirds.  The workshops will be held on 28th & 29th November from 9:30am till 4:00pm.

Day 1 will be centred around the Discovery Centre with presentations from each participating organisation, some identification work and a field trip to convince you that all shorebirds do not look the same!

Day 2 will be based in and around Merimbula and focus on improving the conservation outlook for beach-nesting shorebirds.  You will hear about how challenging this is for the shorebirds given that they nest in habitats that are very popular for human recreation.

Bookings are being taken now by contacting Jenny Robb or Kerryn Wood at the Discovery Centre on 02 6496 1699 or email: admin@sapphirecoastdiscovery.com.au   Bookings are on a first-in, first-booked basis so get your name in as quickly as you can.  Bookings close at 5pm on Friday 23rd November.  The workshops are free of charge to participants.

This project is supported by Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre and BirdLife Australia through funding from the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country.
