Thanks for helping us Clean Up Australia!

A small but dedicated team of workers got out and about at Snug Cove on Clean Up Australia Day to bag up some rubbish that would otherwise enter our beautiful harbour. Our planned underwater clean up did not take place due to the poor visibility from recent (welcome) rain but it was a very pleasant morning to wander the foreshore.
The good news is that there is definitely less deliberate dumping of rubbish than previous years.
The bad news is that there are still lots of bits of discarded rope – prime stuff to cause major damage to sea critters. And cigarette butts seem to be breeding! If you know a smoker, please remind them that their butt is their own responsibility and there are plenty of bins around for them to use.
Thanks again to all our helpers. And remember – you don’t have to only clean up on Clean Up Australia Day!
