Bookings are now open for the Seabird Rescue Workshop on Saturday 16th February 2013 from 9:00am until 4:30pm in and around the Discovery Centre in Snug Cove, Eden. The Workshop will be conducted by Julie Dunn, Founder of Australian Seabird Rescue South Coast and will train community members in how to rescue pelicans and other seabirds.
As Julie has said, pelicans and other seabirds are frequently injured by accidental hooking. Hooks do not simply rust away and fishing line can sever limbs and wings. If left unattended, these injuries can cause infection, gangrene and loss of limbs and a slow and painful death.
Morning and afternoon tea will be provided and participants will receive a comprehensive manual. The cost will be $20 per person.
Interested community members are invited to book now by contacting Kerryn Wood at the Discovery Centre on 02 6496 1699 or email: kerryn.wood@sapphirecoastdiscovery.com.au
Places are limited so people are urged to book early, with bookings closing at 5pm on Friday 8th February 2013.
This project is supported by Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre through funding from the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country.
