    Experience the delights of the marine world in your own classroom with a visit from the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre. Our outreach programs are designed to travel to your school and are run in your own classroom.

    Murder in the Depths

    Murder in the Depths is a hands-on marine science outreach program  featuring a marine murder mystery where the students will use a range of scientific tests and explore a variety of science topics to uncover the mystery surrounding this death.

    Target year level: 5 -6 & 7 – 12
    Cost: $250 (+GST) per session (1hr, group size – min. 10 max 30)

    Inside a Fish

    Have our qualified marine education officer visit your school to run this fun and educational science program.

    We will provide the fish (donated by Southland Fish Supplies Eden), worksheets, an optional additional presentation on fish anatomy prior to the dissection and we do all the messy set-up and clean-up.. Inside a Fish allows students to explore the anatomy of a fish through an exciting hands-on experience. In groups they will dissect a fish while learning about both their internal and external anatomy.

    Target year level: 5 -6 & 7 – 12
    Cost: $250 (+GST)per session (1.5hr, group size – min. 10 max 30)

    Crazy Critters

    Crazy Critters is a hands-on marine science outreach program that utilises live marine animals, fun facts, games and interactive science activities to engage and inspire students to appreciate and care for the marine environment in the comfort of their own classroom.
    Target year level: K – 6
    Cost: $250 (+GST) per session (1hr, group size – min. 10 max 30)

    Whale Wise

    Whale Wise is an engaging interactive workshop that investigates the beauty and biology behind our oceans gentle giants. Discover how to identify whales, the true size of them and feel real whale bones in your own school.

    Target year level: K – 8

    Marine Debris – What’s the harm?

    Marine Debris is a hands-on, scientific look at what marine debris is and the  impacts that debris can have on our marine environment.

    Target year level: K – 8
    Cost: $250 (+GST) per session (1hr, group size – min. 10 max 30)

    Our Changing Oceans

    Changing Oceans is a hands-on marine and climate related science outreach program. The program showcases the changes occurring in our environment as a result of increased CO2 and ocean warming.

    Target year level: 5-12
    Cost: $250 (+GST) per session (50 minutes – 1.5 hours, group size – min. 10 max 30)
