• Rocky Shore Ramble fun!

The Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre has been running rocky shore rambles all this week and we have had a wonderful turn out of visitors from a variety of locations.

Groups of families are lead down to a local rocky beach at low tide and given the chance to explore life in the intertidal zone. They are accompanied by a qualified marine scientist who is on hand to identify species and show them the unique diversity of life on the Sapphire Coast.

Yesterday (Thursday January 10, 2013) was a wonderful ramble with visitors spotting a couple of the beautiful gloomy octopus (Octopus tetricus), a few decorator crabs, lots of sea stars, anemones, chitons and small shore crabs.

If you would like the chance to explore the rock platforms with the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre then download our summer school holiday activity calendar or call us on 02 6496 1699.

Have a look at some more photos of school holiday activities on our Facebook page.
